The COPE Program

COPE (Care Of People with dementia in their Environments) is an occupational therapy and nursing program for people living with dementia and their families. COPE is a practical program, working with the person with dementia and the carer together, to help both the person with dementia to manage their day-to-day activities and the carer to support the person with dementia to live at home.

Supporting people with dementia and their families

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages and abilities to do the things they need and want to do, such as taking care of oneself and others, working, and participating in hobbies.

COPE Training

To deliver the COPE program in Australia, occupational therapists and nurses must undertake training from a COPE Master trainer. COPE training is available nationally.

COPE Research

COPE is an evidence-based program tested in a high quality randomised trial in the US, then successfully implemented in Australia through the COPE Australia research project.
